Emergency Response

Disaster Response

FWA primary and unwavering commitment has always been to respond swiftly to disasters. Since the 2005 earthquake that struck the Northern Areas and the State of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in Pakistan, we have consistently positioned ourselves on the frontline, ready to reach disaster-prone areas and help those in need. Whether it involves offering essential supplies, food & non-food items, psychosocial support, emergency resumption of education or rebuilding devastated infrastructure, FWA spares no effort to reach out to distressed communities.

Post-Earthquake Recovery (2005)

In the aftermath of the 2005 earthquake, FWA distributed vital supplies to affected families, offered psychosocial support to children, and established Temporary Learning Centers (TLCs) in schools that were damaged. These efforts impacted over 1 million individuals, helping communities regain stability.

Flood Response in Kohistan and Shangla (2010)

In response to the 2010 floods, FWA initiated an emergency education project in Kohistan and Shangla. The program supported 79 schools with tents, semi-permanent earthquake-resistant shelters, and sanitation facilities, enabling 6,000 students to return to school. Additionally, teachers, Parent-Teacher Councils (PTCs), and students received psychosocial support and disaster management training.

Flood Emergency Response in Sindh and Baluchistan (2022)

FWA’s 2022 Flood Emergency Response Program provided crucial support to flood-affected communities in Sindh and Baluchistan. We supplied shelters, hygiene kits, clean drinking water through Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Ultra Filtration plants, and community toilets to promote hygiene awareness. This intervention benefited 15,000 individuals, ensuring their safety and dignity.
Along with this, FWA has provided food & non-food items to affected communities in time of need. Clean water by installing water filtration plants and WASH interventions were also a part of the program.
